MEET THE FOUNDER

Dr Sam Ong | Principle Podiatrist Bayswater, Perth

Taking a family photo is much harder than solving foot biomechanics puzzles!

Hi, I'm Sam — a podiatrist here in the beautiful suburb of Bayswater in Perth, husband, dad, and the founder of The Movement Custom Orthotics. I started this clinic with a simple belief: movement is a gift we should never take for granted.

Why I started The Movement

Over the years, I've seen how easily pain can steal that gift. A subtle ache becomes a limp. Walks get shorter. Sport feels harder. You start hesitating on stairs. What most people don't realise is how often it starts at the feet.

After working across private clinics and multidisciplinary settings, I kept noticing the same gap: treatments focused on managing pain, but rarely on solving what caused it.I wanted to build something different — a clinic where every detail of how you move is properly assessed, and where custom orthotics aren't an afterthought, but a precision tool designed specifically for your feet, your body, and your life. That's The Movement.

What drives me

Whether it's a parent who can finally keep up with their kids, a worker whose feet no longer ache at the end of a long shift, or an older adult who feels steady on their feet again — those are the moments that matter most. It's not just about fixing feet. It's about giving people back their energy, their independence, and sometimes their identity. That's what this clinic is built around: not just outcomes, but quality of life.

Helping the community stay moving

My work at the clinic allows me to work closely with my clients on a 1-to-1 basis, and it's great. However, being involved in community events help raise the much needed awareness on foot biomechanics, alignment and healthy movements. Over the years, my team and I have participated in community events big and small, and will continue to do so!
